Taking Care of Employees During Quarantine

As if maintaining a budding business wasn’t hard enough already, the coronavirus pandemic did more than enough to flip the entire economic landscape flat on its back. Hundreds of businesses are suffering from this sudden turn of events but that doesn’t mean yours should too. Not a lot of people have the wits to think up a genius business idea, and even more so, the know-how to keep it going. But we all know that what keeps the business afloat especially during times like these is an able workforce: helping hands that put things together and keep the whole thing running smoothly.

Take care of your employees, you take care of your business. Here are some helpful tips to let your employees know that you’re in it together.

Show up for them

And not necessarily physically. Let them know that you’re there to help them get through these difficult times. Be a friend and let them know that you’re concerned for their mental and physical wellbeing. Understand that they’re stressed out and anxious about the situation too but also let them know that you’ve got their backs.

Request for Payment Delays

Help your employees by requesting delays in their loan payments (if any). As well as a delay on their SSS and PhilHealth payments. A little can go a long way and allowing them some leeway to use their money for essentials right now can be a big help.

Sanitize

This is more about keeping up with government-mandated safety regulations, it’s prioritizing the health and safety of your employees. If your business requires your employees to be at your establishment, personally oversee that footbaths are installed and hand sanitizers are within reach. It’s also your responsibility to provide other forms of safety gear like gloves, masks and/or face shields for your staff so they feel secure while at work!

Be a leader, not a boss

Sometimes managing a team can call for a firm demeanor and tough decision making. But in times like this, you might consider taking it down a notch knowing that everybody else in your team could be on edge with what’s happening in the world today. Initiate positive communication and encourage active collaboration among your employees so you’re all on the same page moving forward.

Your business is only as good as your employees. They are the front liners of your products (whatever they may be). One of the best ways to ensure great employees is by giving them security. You can achieve this by providing proper healthcare for them. Check out ALLCARE’s HMO + benefits package, the first and only benefits platform in the Philippines designed for SMEs and startups. Each membership now comes with a free telemedicine subscription and mental health survey!
